USA Productions Tri Club Challenge Series:
($5,000 at stake, $2,250 going to charity)
We are excited to announce the expansion of the “USA Productions Tri Club Challenge”. In 2010, the challenge will include all triathlon races in the USA Productions schedule and will be broken down into four divisions (Elite, Age Group, Clydesdale/Athena, and Physically Challenged) and two distances (Sprint and International). Total prize purse is $2,750 for the winning tri teams over the four race series and championship at Folsom, $500 will be donated to the charity of the winning clubs choice at each event, eligibility and details are below.

About the Series:
To get involved in the 2010 Tri Club Challenge, all clubs will need to create your team within active.com to receive a discount code for all USA Productions 2010 races (2009 teams may already be created). Please also send your club logo and description for listing and promotion on the USA Productions website (http://www.usaproductions.org/resources/team-alignments) to info@usaproductions.org.
Discount for all tri club participation:
10% for each participant. Each club must have 10 or more members in a club to receive the discount.
Tri Club Challenge (TCC) Prize Money and Awards: (teams must have a min of 10 athletes at each event to qualify for prize money and awards): Tri Club Challenge Series will include all triathlon races in 2010. Prize money will be broken down for each distance category in the Tri Club Challenge Series; the championship will occur at Folsom Olympic Distance Triathlon for the series finale.
MHST: $500 2010 MHST Tri Club Challenge event winner
SVST: $250 2010 SVST Tri Club Challenge event winner
SVIT: $500 2010 SVIT Tri Club Challenge event winner
FODT: $500 2010 FODT Tri Club Challenge event winner

Team and individual points breakdown (The team with the most total points wins!):
Individual participation points:
-1/2 point for each finisher up to 30 points
-Top 10 overall finishers for each sex in the age group category (10 points for 1st, 9 points for 2nd ... 1 pt for 10th)
-Top 5 finishers for each sex in the Elite/Pro category (5 points for 1st, 4 points for 2nd ... 1 pt for 5th)
-Top 5 finishers for each sex in the Clydesdale & Athena category (5 points for 1st, 4 points for 2nd ... 1 pt for 5th)
-Top 5 finishers for each sex in the Physically Challenged category (5 points for 1st, 4 points for 2nd ... 1 pt for 5th)
Team traveling distance points:
The Tri Club Challenge will award distance points, on a per team basis, in accordance with the following distances. The distance shall be determined using airline miles from the home city of a club to the location of the Tri Club Challenge event location.
>1000 miles = 30 distance points
999 – 600 miles = 20 distance points
599 – 300 miles = 15 distance points
299 – 180 miles = 10 distance points
179- 100 miles = 5 distance points
<99 miles = 0 distance point
Tri Club Challenge Series Points:
Divided into two distances (International and Sprint) the Tri Club Challenge Series will crown the best individuals and teams in the tri club categories. The teams with the most points at the end of the season will take home the grand prize ($1000), a BBQ bash hosted by USA Productions, and bragging rights as the fastest tri club team around.
Tie Breaker:
If a tie occurs based on the individual team points breakdown (above), the number of finishers shall break a tie and determine the winning team.
Eligibility for Tri Club Challenge Series and events:
-No relay teams are eligible for Tri Club Challenge Series points.
-Must have 10 or more team members participating to qualify for the prize money in each event.
-Must qualify in at least three events for qualification in the $1,000 Tri Club Challenge Series Championship at Folsom.
Participation in the Tri Club Challenge:
Each tri club will need to have a team captain sign them up on Active.com which will give the team a 10% coupon code to distribute for registration. From the following link, (Register your team for each race) click on "Team Captains - Create Your Team" button on each page. follow the steps for each event in the series to create your tri team. This process will require you to login to Active.com and enter your team name. Once you have submitted your team name you'll be given a discount code to use for your tri club registration. If your team is already signed up from last year all you need to do is use the new discount code distributed to each of the tri club presidents for registration.
Entries given back for great community and team participation:
Each tri club setup and registered for the 2010 USA Productions tri season will receive 2 complimentary entries in the Morgan Hill Sprint Triathlon to start off the season. These entries will be distributed on or before March 1, 2010 to each tri club president or director. Your total tri club participation in each event will result in complimentary entries and will be given out after each event based on participation level, see below:

21-25 = 4
25+ = 6
50+ = 8
Team Volunteers (10 minimum):
Volunteers are the key to success in making the event come together. We are looking for tri clubs and teams to come out and provide pre and post race support for the event (ie: packet pickup, packet stuffing, and post race awards) and at same time promote your tri club. There will be two options for volunteer support in 2010 that clubs can choose to take advantage of due to their teams or clubs great support:
-5 free entries will be donated to the team for help at each event
-50% off entry fees to all event volunteers for a future event

Chip Timing:
This race will be timed using chip transpoders. Upon checking in you will receive a chip that is traditionally worn on the ankle. It is the athlete's responsibility to wear the chip during the entire race, if you do not wear the chip you will NOT be timed and you will not get your splits! If you're part of a 2-person or 3-person relay team it is each individuals sole responsibility to hand the chip off to teammates inside the Transition Area.
The Athlete is also 100% totally responsible for the return of the chip, our waiver will have a disclaimer that must be signed that states you the athlete must return the chip or be billed accordingly by our timing company. It is the racer's responsibility to make sure, if you cannot attend the race that the chip will be returned within 7- business days to USA Productions LLC.
USA Productions USAT Sanctioning:
USAT provides comprehensive insurance coverage to sanctioned events. The coverage provides liability coverage to protect the race director, sponsors, volunteers, officials, and participants. The athlete excess medical coverage protects each participant for the day of the event.
Athlete Excess Medical: When athletes purchase a USAT annual license or one day permit, a portion of those fees cover the cost to provide them with excess medical insurance. This coverage only extends to their participation in an USA Triathlon sanctioned event and is only available after the injured party has filed with any primary insurance policies.
Event Liability: USAT provides comprehensive liability insurance coverage to sanctioned events. The USA Triathlon policy automatically covers USA Triathlon race directors, sponsors, volunteers, officials, and participants while participating in sanctioned events. Single-event permit can only be purchased through the race director and is $10 at packet pickup or the day of the event. USA Triathlon does not sell single-day permits.
