TRIbe www.tribetriathlon.com TRIbe’s membership is smaller than many local clubs so we can maintain a tight-knit, welcoming feel. Our total membership is close to 100 people, but every effort is made to ensure that members actually know each other. We have regular social events, clinics and, of course, workouts - most of which are free to members. TRIbe can even claim a few marriages and several long-term friendships as a result of this atmosphere. We seek members who have made the commitment to the athletic lifestyle, who desire the thrill of competition, but are humble enough to realize that there’s more to life than triathlon and perhaps the greatest benefit of the sport are the relationships we build along the way. TRIbe is more than a club: we’re training partners, a support system, A TEAM!

Reno Area Triathletes www.renoareatriathletes.com Founded in 1996, the Reno Area Triathletes today has a membership topping the 200 mark — that’s a lot of people with one uniquely similar motivation. “It was formed to get people with a common interest together,” says executive director Mike Ginsburg. “Our ranks include two pro racers as well as people who haven’t even done a triathlon yet.” Support, camaraderie, and a good information line: These are the goals of the club. For the $20 membership fee, triathletes also get a monthly e-mail newsletter (including an events listing), and discounts to several triathlons, plus information on club events. One such event is an organized Lake Tahoe two-mile swim from Hidden Beach to Sand Harbor. “We can have as many as 30 to 40 swimmers, plus kayaks, for support,” Ginsburg says. Afterward, many head out for a 10-mile run along Lakeshore Boulevard. At the end of such a day, most also enjoy calorie-loading at the club’s beach barbeque.
